What is the Cardboard Boat Regatta?
This unique one-day event offers fun for the entire family. You, your friends, and your family are the amateur boat designers, builders, navigators and sailors. Teams race their homemade boats, that they have constructed completely out of cardboard, across Spring Lake on July 4th.

Boat Building Workshop
Interested in learning more about construction, design and materials?
Join us at 10:30 am on June 19th for a more detailed look at the Cardboard Boat Regatta. Workshop to be held at the Rivershire Nature Center.
Boat Categories
1. Youth: ages 10 - 14
2. Adult: ages 15 and up
3. Family: for anyone under 10 years old, with an adult in the boat. any combination of ages.
Regatta Rules
1. The boat must be made entirely out of corrugated cardboard.
2. The boat must be able to hold at least two people (no maximum).
3. No mechanical (metal, plastic, fiberglass, etc.) components are allowed.
4. The only materials allowed in the construction/design of the boat are:
- Cardboard
- Gummed paper tape
- Wood glue
- Latex paint
- Silicone or latex caulk
5. No other waterproofing material may be used in the construction of the boat other than the materials listed in rule 4 above.
6. Duct Tape is only allowed after a boat has completed one round of racing, and may be used for repair purposes only (you must provide your own).
7. Only cardboard, plastic or cloth materials may be used for decoration purposes.
8. No electrical or pyrotechnics allowed.
9. Life preservers MUST be worn at all times during a race.
10. Construction or alterations to the boat are prohibited from the time of check-in until permission from race staff is given immediately before the race.
11. Boats will be inspected by race officials prior to the race to ensure compliance with construction rules.

Prizes will be awarded for:
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place
- Red, White and Blue Award
- Titanic Award for Best Sinking
- Participation Awards
