What is the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration?
The 2009 Lincolnshire Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration will mark a magical start to the holidays. Hosted by the Lincolnshire Community Association (LCA), the festivities will feature an wide selection of children’s choirs, music, hot drinks, treats, and an appearance by Santa before the Citizen of the Year, Mary Batsford, flips the switch to light up the entire square and the Village’s official tree with thousands of lights. The evening will truly be an opportunity for all of Lincolnshire to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with their friends, family and neighbors.
Santa will be on-site all evening to distribute surprises to all children provided by the Greater Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce. Kids can visit with Santa and 4 x 6 pictures will be available for $5 provided by Lincolnshire professional photographer Dave Hails. The mementos will be ready within days via email. In addition, throughout the evening free hot chocolate and cookies will be served provided by Sodexho. A special alcoholic hot drink will be served by Flatlanders for a nominal fee.

Giving Back
The LCA will also be offering an opportunity for Lincolnshire residents to give back at the Tree Lighting Celebration. The Lincolnshire Community Association will be accepting collections of non-perishable food on behalf of the Vernon Township Food Pantry. In addition, LCA is honored to participate in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. The public will be able to bring new, unwrapped toys for distribution to needy children to help them experience the joy of the holiday season.
